Busy stitching........

Today was the first 'non-day' in a while. That is nothing planned and nothing that had to be done by yesterday! We did have a lovely day yesterday in London, I visited the museum of childhood in Bethnal Green and Alice went to Oxford Street with friends (I owe my friend Cathi for letting me off the hook). I haven't been since it was all revamped so I wanted to see what they had done with the collection and I wasn't disappointed though I suspect they have less Antique dolls on display than they had before but a lovely exhibition all the same. And...I can't believe I forgot my camera so you will have to wait until I figure out how to download photos from my phone! http://www.vam.ac.uk/
So... I've been getting on with a bit of stitchery! I made a bag out of the little embroidery I did a week or so ago as if we haven't got enough bags in this house!! you decide which is the front and which is the back!

Larmer tree time again

Just had to share with you another wonderful time at the Larmer tree music festival. This is an annual event for us which allows the Hippy part of me to emerge and indulge in some wonderful music, workshops and simply time out in one of the most beautiful parts of Dorset. The beauty of the Larmer Tree festival is that it is still small, very child friendly and not too far away from home so if the need for a decent shower comes along its not impossible!
Newton faulkner opened the festival, 'Legend' according to Alice, fantastic guitarist as far as I am concerned.
Larmer Lawns befor the crowds wake up!
Woodland art
The best tea stop at the festival!

It's the Summer Hols!

This weeks marks the beginning of juggling work and child care at the beginning of the Summer Holidays. We have several days out planned for next week (have got leave!) then its back to work for me and Alice goes to her Dad's for a week, then I'm not sure what we are doing and then we get our Annual trip to Cornwall, can't wait!

And on top of all that I've been struggling with my creative self, which has been a bit non existant, now suddenly I have all sorts of projects i want to either finish or get started! It started with doing a bit of embroidery now I have all sorts of ideas of incorporating these into a collection of bags and then I found some fantastic fabric which has got me thinking all over again.............

Now what to do with these fat quarters from www.cornwallfabrics.co.uk

Saturday, 10 July 2010

My, it has been a very long week! Last weekend I ran (yes ran!) the 5k Race for Life. I was very pleased with myself as running is definately not my thing. But, it was very important for me to do this this year in memory of my dear friend who was the same age as I am now when she passed away. I'm still collecting sponsorship money for cancer research and that is better than I had hoped for too. My legs are still a little stiff a week later though!

I have been taking advantage of the lighter evenings and getting on with some sewing at long last. I finished the old battered up baby pram and it looks all fresh and new now,
Whilst the camera was out Barnaby decided he wanted a serious picture taken, his handsome self!
And why give up when you are on a roll....I've wanted to stitch this design for ages, finally did it and now I have all sorts of ideas of incorporating it into a wall hanging for my studio............

A New WIP

I finally got round to doing a bit of sewing for myself. This was a little pram that Alice had when she was very small, I always liked it but it got very damaged over the years, and more recently it was buried in the depths of the old garage getting more and more faded and dusty. Today I began the restoration process. It is now pulled apart ready to clean sand and repaint and I begun putting the fabrics together to make the little pillow and duvet so that I had a bit of hand sewing to do.
Watch this space for progress!
