Done the knitting part....

I've finished all the knitting for the bear. Now its the fun part of making it all up! It was a very easy pattern to follow and the yarn is nice to knit with but a bit tricky if you do make a mistake, its not so easy to unknit! I enjoyed the knitting part especially as i am still so tired in the evenings and this has been a pleasant diversion.......but it's not getting the dolls made!

Spring??

It was another glorious day today and when I got home from work I found a big bunch of daffodils that Mike had left me from his garden. It feels like Spring is getting in on the act!

No creations being done right now as there is just no time but the knitted teddy is coming along only one leg and foot pads to do then i can make him up.

Knitting bears

As it is half term there is very little doll work going on right now. I don't seam to have 5 minutes to myself. Yesterday we made the obligatory shopping trip to Southampton (I do hate shopping in these shopping centres) but my daughter loves it and she had money burning a hole in her pocket! she was very pleased with the new outfits she bought and some at my expense! but I did buy myself a knitted bear kit in John Lewis. I don't usually buy kits but this one looked so sweet and I haven't done any knitting in a while. I sat quietly last night and knitted in front of the telly and i enjoyed myself. Only managed half the head and one ear so a long way to go, but he will be lovely when he's finished.

Our handsome boys!

Aren't they lovely??

British weather? wonderful

It was a glorious day yesterday as we made the customary half term trip to Hengistbury Head. eight children this time and five dogs! but as you know the simplest things are always the best.

It was warm enough for a proper picnic outside and everyone just had so much fun!
No dolly stuff today but i wouldn't miss a day like this for anything.

Time for another LIST !

My dear friends know that I don't do lists! which is probably why things happen by default rather than design. BUT....as the purpose of this blog is to keep me focused on what needs to be done in my crafty adventures and as I seriously need to get my business back on track here goes....

  • Bru project - heads are ready for painting, materials ready to put the body together. Need to work this systematically and write comprehensive teaching plan for this project class by the end of March.

  • Heubach dolls (there are 4 of them) these need to be painted, and dressed ready for Summer workshop.

  • Sewing Circle - sample projects need a little refreshing, this class needs to sart at the end of March too

  • And my poor old Jumeau still needs a wig and some shoes, then she will be finished!

Its half term this week so don't see me having much time let alone keeping on top of the general mess in this house but I can get organised.....watch this space!

A Wonderful day......

What a wonderful day it was yesterday, clear skies, fresh air and excellent company - that is nine adults, nine children and 5 large dogs!! Didn't do any craft work as such but its good to take time out. What we did do though was revisit our dreams of an ideal future involving all the skills that we have collectively, you never know............

moulds are poured...

Only my 3rd day back at work and my daughter goes down with a nasty head cold so no school today and a messed up day for me but the up side is that whilst nursing the patient I was able to get on with the pouring of the Heubach heads plus a few other bits and bobs I've been meaning to do for a while. They'll be ready to go in the kiln tomorrow for soft firing.......I'm on a roll!

A bit of a day......

It has been a long stressful day today with the funeral of my ex father in law. We will miss him but it is all over and everyone can look ahead. In the free time I had while my daughter was with her father I had a rummage around and found all the moulds for the Heubach boys, so hopefully I will get them poured in the next few days and then they are ready to put on the end of the 'To Do' list!!

The Bru dolls will have to take priority!!

And its back to the day job tomorrow, so will have to go carefully as I know my strength is still not fully back. I guess I will just have to take things very slowly.

Saturday 9 February 2008

Here's another reproduction of an antique bonnet I made.

It was lovely to get out today for the Southern Belles meeting. I couldn't stay that long but it was great to see everyone there and everyone so enthused about this years project. I know now that I need to do some more work on Gebruder Heubach dolls.
I have a plan to check out the moulds I have and perhaps I need to make the 'Family' it would fit in with the Summer project of 'Die Schwester' and 'Elspeth'

Thursday 7 February 2008

Having spent yesterday mostly trying to update my website and decide what needed doing. I just seam unable to prioritise at the moment! The website is still not as I would like it and my work room is a mess so here is an attempt to look at what projects need to be looked at.....
1. remember the Jumeau? she needs wig and shoes and bonnet finished. I could get on with that and then put her to rest.
2. The Bru project needs a lot of concentration and I'm not sure I have that right now. I also need to clear my painting space too.
3. The Dream Baby book needs revisiting. I don't have the energy for that right now but I've put the large header photo here for a purpose.....It keeps it on the top of the agenda!
4. Summer project - Die schwester and Elsbeth need looking at for a simple project in the Summer - A new venture with my good friend Rose, when we've talked some more I can let you know all about it.

Now to my work room, it needs some serious sorting!

Southern Belles sewing box

I haven't been completely idle while convalescing though must admit this has been a lot harder than I expected. I thought as a fit and healthy person I would recover and be back to normal quite quickly after surgery, everything is so slow!! BUT.... I have managed to do something! this was a kit that my friend June gave me shortly before she died and I have been promising myself that I would do something with it. Well as the Southern Belles have been so busy over the past years making little sewing aids I thought I'd make the box for them all to go in and here it is...........

They're fired!

Well I fired the Bru heads and a few other pieces yesterday and they are now out of the kiln. So now the task is to tidy away all the sewing things and clear the table to do some painting. trouble is the concentration isn't back yet and still feeling a bit sore from the op, so may just have to go slow!
