I won! I won!

I can't believe I won a giveaway! I won a pattern from Sandi, for this lovely little Annie. I'm chuffed to bits! Thankyou Sandi, go check out her site. I put the Raggedy button up on the left.
A great start to my day!

Autumn has arrived....

It has been a very dull, grey day here today, went for a lovely walk with the dogs but it was cold.....usually I love the Autumn, and we have had some lovely Indian Summers in recent years but somehow I have a pessimistic feeling that it will be Winter before we know it!

Anyway, it is Autumn and I wanted to to do this beautiful quilt offered by Kaaren at The painted Quilt. I've never made a 'proper' quilt before! I chose to do it in Autumnal colours and I managed to do block no.1 I'm two blocks behind already.

My first ever go at pinwheels!

At least I have the stitchery ready for the next block,

I don't have a fancy sewing machine. This is my trusty 100 year old which once belonged to my grandmother and then my aunt, it has been a reliable workhorse for many years and is still going strong. I love it! and choose to use it more often than my electric one which needs a service again and which has never been as reliable.

Have a great weekend.....

Tilda Angels

I know I'm supposed to be starting on the antique reproduction costumes for the Bru and the Jumeau, but I got distracted again!! My friend Shirley's birthday is coming up soon and like me she is a bit of an insomniac. Ages ago I decided to make her a Tilda sleep angel, well she has the choice of two!
Both stuffed with lavender which should help a little. Now to clear up my sewing room and get on with those costumes.

A day off.....not!

It is finally my day off and what am I doing?? driving 140 miles round trip to Taunton to attend a speed awareness course because I got caught doing 36 miles an hour in a 30 mile an hour zone! It's either that or 3 points on my licence, though I am beginning to think I should have just had the points! I do sometimes wonder at the logic of the law, yes I was in the wrong but if I was doing 46 miles would the punishment be the same?

So that's my day sorted!

And so much stitching to do!!

Apples, and more apples........

Once again my old Apple tree has done it again, Apples, everywhere! I've known this old tree for 10 years, and at that time many experts said to me, won't last much longer, won't produce much.........Well, that old tree ain't giving up yet!
Windfalls litter the garden....... Still the tastiest apples, a sort of sweet cooker. Still don't know what variety they are, I suspect an old one.
Anyone know any good apple recipes??

New wigs and costumes......

This weekend I spent most of my time trying (trying being the word!) to get on top of the housework and sort out my workspace and that was around being 'Mum's taxi service' too!

I have set myself 3 tasks...these dolls need wigs and costumes with patterns, Before I start anything else (says I!)

They are a 24" Bru, Its taken me this long to finish writing up all the instructions to make the Chevrot leather body and the other is a 16" Jumeau. I have an idea for their costumes but now need to check out my fabric supply and check I have enough of something suitable.

This little raggedy has been asking to be finished for so long now, she's already becoming suitably 'distressed' !

And a bit more finishing off..........

Finally finished these little lavender bags I embroidered some time ago, another stocking filler done!

And poor Alfie nursing his poorly foot, he desperately wants to go for his usual long walk but I had to leave him while I took Barnaby.
At least it's a lovely sunny day and we can all enjoy a bit of sunshine.

New hearts

Gosh it's hard to get back into routine! I'm not a very good routine person, tending to be more impulsive which I've had to control a little since my daughter was born and now there are two of us!! today I'm looking after poor Alfie, my dog Barnabys bestest friend! Alfie had a nasty accident leaping into the river as he has done many times and cut his paw very badly, so he has to be kept company and safe while his family are all out. So in order to keep both dogs quiet I have to sit! so why not sit quietly myself in the sewing room and finish off these
hearts.
