New projects.....

Oh My! whare have the last two weeks gone? I don't seem to have stopped and still struggling to see my achievements!! Actually I have pretty well manged to sort my workroom out. The sad fact is that I simply have TOO MUCH STUFF! but I do have a list of projects to work through and all the necessaries ready to go.

The first one is something that has been on the back burner since the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. I bought this mould many moons ago and she is a lovely doll to make in the beginners classes, so she will be my next project class but first I do have to make a better sample than the one I made so long ago as she is on the wrong body which does alter the feel of the doll.So watch this space to see my newly created Schoenau & Hoffmeister Princess Elizabeth character doll based on the Queen when she was supposedly about 3 1/2 years old

And as I was cleaning the car today...yes, I did clean the car!! I noticed the very first sign of Spring here in the South even though the temperature today has hardly risen above freezing in a very bitter North Easterly wind. At least it is dry and the sun has been out.

New wigs and costumes......

This weekend I spent most of my time trying (trying being the word!) to get on top of the housework and sort out my workspace and that was around being 'Mum's taxi service' too!

I have set myself 3 tasks...these dolls need wigs and costumes with patterns, Before I start anything else (says I!)

They are a 24" Bru, Its taken me this long to finish writing up all the instructions to make the Chevrot leather body and the other is a 16" Jumeau. I have an idea for their costumes but now need to check out my fabric supply and check I have enough of something suitable.


This little raggedy has been asking to be finished for so long now, she's already becoming suitably 'distressed' !

Remembering........

Gosh, two posts in one day!! As I'm in the process of moving things around the house I thought I'd share this doll with you. she came to mind as I have just signed my daughter and I up for this years race for life....An all womens 5km run in aid of cancer research. Sadly, I have lost my two best friends to the beast, both were Godmothers to my daughter Alice. At the time Jayne Louise gave me this doll, an original sculpture made by her in porcelain. I still have the mould and permission to reproduce 20 of this doll called 'Lucy'. I still don't have the heart at this stage but perhaps soon with so many worthy causes out there.........

Another dear friend, Dorothea, found this box and decorated it to keep 'Lucy' in for Alice. She decorated it with pictures of both Jeanine and Jayne and put a little page inside the satchel on the doll to Alice.

She is very precious to us both, and we will be running (or in my case walking!)on the 4th July in the race for life in memory of dear friends lost too early.

Its been a long week at work which has cut into the uninterupted painting time but I have at least done some, so the Bru heads can go into the kiln for a second firing....probably two more to go. I also need to find some time to visit the supplier and get some clear glaze which I had forgotten I'd run out of.

Its the Southern Belles doll club monthly meeting this Saturday but unfortunately I shan't be able to go, school holidays! Jean is presenting a pattern for the underwear for the little 'Henri' doll which is the project doll for this year. That means I really must get on with the Heubach dolls!

I made these dolls many moons ago, infact the doll in red won me my first gold rosette at the GDS regional event in London in 1990....and the one in white won me a silver at Santa Fe in 1994!

It has been a lovely day today and I've had all day on my own to really get on with things........BUT don't seam to have managed that much. My sitting room is all 'sparkly' cos i cleaned (just the rest of the house to go!!) I did do a bit of painting but somehow that wasn't doing much, actually I might be able to fire tomorrow so not too bad I suppose.

I have been thinking about Peter much of the day. The funeral was lovely and Peter would have approved but life goes on.........

Hope fully I might get something to show tomorrow.

A bit of a day......

It has been a long stressful day today with the funeral of my ex father in law. We will miss him but it is all over and everyone can look ahead. In the free time I had while my daughter was with her father I had a rummage around and found all the moulds for the Heubach boys, so hopefully I will get them poured in the next few days and then they are ready to put on the end of the 'To Do' list!!

The Bru dolls will have to take priority!!

And its back to the day job tomorrow, so will have to go carefully as I know my strength is still not fully back. I guess I will just have to take things very slowly.
